Summer Radio

Movabletype has a neat histogram that lets you see your frequency of blog posts in the past few weeks. Before starting work at Apture, I was blogging at a reasonable rate. Now, they’re just blips on the radar. Seems a bit odd, given that bloggers are one of Apture’s target audience. We employees should really try to dogfood our own product a bit more..

(I know Tristan or Theresa is going to stumble across this because they have those Google Alerts set up. I wonder if I mention Jeff Atwood from stackoverflow, would he come here too?)

Anyhow, I’ve been spending my days coding along and listening to various radio shows. I fully caught up on stackoverflow’s podcasts and have been listening to a lot of Wait Wait. For a while, I lost my monitor so people could see me laughing in the middle of the day. Joel Spolsky and Jeff Atwood (second name drop!) are both really funny. Joel’s voice is rather soothing and reminds me of when I went to Fog Creek, which is absolutely amazing. I hear they are having an open house soon (before they move to their new office). One of the most amazing things is the very first view you get when those elevator doors open.

I’ve been listening to Wait Wait as my sorry excuse for keeping up with the news. It’s also the same reason I’ve been watching the Colbert Report too. I am one of those pitiful people that Ms. Drumm, my high school Government teacher, despises. The kind of person that gets all of his news through comedic outlets because the New York Times requires too much attention span. I don’t know what I have to say for myself.

The Google Code Jam starts tomorrow. I think I’ll spend an hour poking around at it. It said you only need to solve one to qualify. I’m really no good at these kind of competitions. I’m really no good at problem solving in general. The only thing I have going for me is work, which I can chug along doing until the job gets done.

On an unrelated note, have you seen the Microsoft video with Jennifer Aniston?

By the way, this is only part 1 of 3 of the greatness.
