You can send forwarded emails as attachments but you have to go through the menu which is annoying. Why can’t I just click on that big button? Well, now you can! To configure Thunderbird’s default behavior, all you do is Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Config Editor. A window, similar to Firefox’s about:config should popup. Type in forward in your filter and you’ll see a preference, mail.forward_message_mode. Setting it to 1 will change the default forwarding to inline. Sweet.
There's an easier way to do it:
Tools -> Options -> Composition and it's the 1st option under the General Tab.
