Last night, I was going to blog about water bottles. I got a bottle of smartwater from someone else, not sure why. I suspect that to be courteous, they shouldn’t just offer me tap water, or even a normal bottle of water.
Whatever happened to just normal bottled water? It’s sad to think of people in those traditional bottled water companies, working hard to create new ways to compete with the new Vitamin Waters and other infused waters. In the end, they just sell water in a bottle. Maybe it comes from a spring or a glacier.
But that isn’t enough these days.
I’m not sure where smartwater comes from, but the label mentions something about spring water being for swimming (accompanied with an image of a goldfish) and smartwater is for drinking. The word “GLACEAU” is somewhere on the label. I’m not sure what it means but it doesn’t look English. I find it a bit unfair seeing as the rest of the label is in English. It looks like it would have something to do with a glacier. Possibly a french glacier? Does France even have glaciers? Somewhere else, I find a blurb about how the water is “vapor distilled” and is “pure & crisp like from a cloud.” Rain water is the only water I’ve tasted from a cloud and personally, trying to drink falling rain is quite dissatisfying.
Well, the real point was that I was going to write exactly this rant about fancy bottled water, but then I fell asleep. Oops. Also, I like drinking VitaminWater. I think they are more upfront about what they’re selling though.
