I visited my high school today and had a nice conversation with my old math teacher. I always like talking to my old teachers, and the more I do, the more I want to become a teacher. He was telling me about students in the past and while he didn’t want to say it outright, you could tell he made a huge impact on these kids’ lives. He asked me about my future plans and how school was going. Apparently, high school kids these days freak out about college really early, and some even know what they want to major in! With all this in mind, he asked me if I would do anything differently.
I need 180 units to finish my undergraduate degree and I started my 4th year with 176 units. This last quarter was one of the hardest quarters I’ve ever taken. I’ve been telling myself that I want to take a lot of classes now so that I can relax during my 5th year. I didn’t realize that all my friends would be gone then! Still, despite taking these extra classes, I’m somehow entering my final quarter of my undergraduate career, taking 4 classes, all of which are required.
If I had planned this all properly, I could have had much more free time these past three years. I would be able to just take fun classes my last quarter. My friends are taking classes on dancing, wine tasting, and sailing. I didn’t even get to take that class I wanted to take on the extinction of the dinosaurs.
